#transitlounge apology

Friends, I owe you an apology. I did not host a link up this month for our read of No god but God by Reza Aslan. I did read it – and highly recommend it. But I was hosting a bevy of friends, 14 to be exact, for the last 10 days and just ran out of time, energy and adequate bandwidth. Please forgive me. Summertime in Burundi is always a bit precarious!

But if you did read the book, please let me know what you thought about it. Also, if you wrote a response, please put the link in the comments so we can all click over and read. Sorry for the informality this month, but really, bandwidth is not universal!

The book for July is Jesus: A Revolutionary Biography by John Dominic Crossan. This one was published several years back, but I’m still intrigued. Some of the best books I’ve read in recent years have been penned by Crossan. His scholarship, insight and writing captivate me each time, and I expect this to be another great learning experience. Note: you don’t have to subscribe to all his conclusions to benefit from his scholarship and glean from his perspective. If you are interested, I highly recommend God & Empire: Jesus Against Rome, Now and ThenThe Greatest Prayer: Rediscovering the Revolutionary Message of The Lord’s PrayerThe Power of Parable: How Fiction by Jesus became fiction about Jesus and The Last Week: A Day-by-Day Account of Jesus’s Final Week in Jerusalem with Marcus J. Borg. Seriously, he is worth reading. Hope you enjoy trying this one with me…

    Kelley,
It’s good to give ourselves some room for grace, isn’t it? I didn’t expect to be sick for most of June and while I found the book fascinating, I had to put it down. I was too overwhelmed with life. So I totally get it. 🙂
I have guests for some of July and am starting the Story 101 class, so I might not be back until Prototype because of time constraints. (I will NOT miss that one.)
I appreciate you and this transitlounge space. Thank you!
